There are two elements of great speed control:
A solid stroke with good fundamentals
Clear language for your hand-eye coordination

This practice session will help with both elements.

The aids we use help with:
Pendulum Putting Rod - consistent posture, and prevents wrist flip

EDGE Mirror – proper setup and unwavering body position throughout stroke

Sweet Spot 360˚ – hit the ball on the sweet spot of the putter

1. Set a target at 20, 25, and 30 feet.

2. Use the training aid to hit 3 balls to each target (this will help your fundamentals and create good communication between your brain and hands.)

Hit 3 balls to each target with no aid. This will engrain what the aid is teaching and sharpen your focus.

Repeat with aid, and repeat without aid (hit one ball to each target and repeat 3 times)

Q: Frank writes: “I would like to know how many eyes should I be able to see in the Edge mirror? If I can see 2 eyes, then my head is behind the ball. Is that correct?”

-Frank

A: Great to hear from you – terrific question, too.

There are a couple of things working into your eye position:
1. Ideally, you would like your dominate eye over the top of the ball. If you are right eye dominate, then your left eye would be slightly in front of the ball and out of the mirror. Conversely, if you are left eye dominate you would see both eyes. (I am assuming you are right handed

2. You are correct about seeing 2 eyes and your head being behind the ball. The main thing is to make sure both eyes are on the line of the putt. You don’t want your eye “twisted” so that one eye is inside the line and the other eye outside the line. Your perception would be adversely affected.

The next time you are practicing with the EDGE Mirror, experiment with the ball position. Move it forward and backward and watch how your eyes see the line. You will find your best position.

Let me know if I can help further.

All the best,

Sam

You will be amazed at how relaxed you will become under pressure and how well you will putt.

CLICK HERE – Details on the Short Game Targets

Hitting consistent chips and pitches require 2 skills:
1. Land your ball in your target zone
2. Hit the ball with the proper trajectory to create the proper amount of spin and roll

Proper practice should focus on these 2 skills.

You will need good targets to help you. They attract your focus, and make practice fun.

Play the Game:
Create a target ladder. Toss targets 3-5 yards apart beginning at 5 yards from you.
Hit shots to your landing zones. Choose your most lofted club. Start with the nearest target, then to the next further target; continue back with targets nearer to you.
Change trajectory. Take your next lofted club and hit shots up and down your “ladder”. Continue until you have worked through each club through your 5 iron.

You are practicing exactly what you need on the course to get it “up and down” from anywhere.

Way to GO!
